The Victims of Tahrir Sqaure
The victims of Tahrir Square is the best thing to describe the horror bestowed upon these women. The women went to the Square to fight for equality. Women in Egypt were treated poorly and their sexual assault rates were very high. There were no systems put in place and their former president, Hosni Mubarak, ignored the rape cases that were presented during Tahir Square. Until news casters and women from all over the globe began to come forth with their stories. (1) Also, a female activist, Shaimaa el-Sabbagh was shot and killed around the Egyptian Revolution because she was seen as a threat to the government. Later, women became fed up with the sexual assault after the Egyptian Revolution and protested against the wrongdoings they have experience.
